Join this special two-part series on HR issues as we examine what boards of directors need to consider as human capital management becomes an increasingly important part of the board’s fiduciary duties. Our panel of experts will discuss the current state of the labor market, how to attract talent, dealing with layoffs, impacts on DEI, operations, and branding, as well as the future of labor acquisition.

Sean Behr

Sean Behr is an experienced executive and entrepreneur in multiple industries including e-commerce, advertising and automotive.  He is currently Chief Executive Officer at Fountain, a high-volume hiring platform empowering the world’s leading brands to streamline and scale their recruiting function. Prior to joining Fountain, Behr served as CEO & founder of Stratim, Senior Vice President, Global Operations at Adap.tv, and held various management roles at Shopping.com (acquired by Ebay). In addition, Behr advises, mentors and invests in entrepreneurs and early-stage companies. 

Jenny Dearborn

Recognized as one of the 50 Most Powerful Women in Tech for five consecutive years, Jenny is a thought leader in HR, HCM, the Future of Work, and data analytics. She is the Chief People Officer at Klaviyo, and the Founder of Actionable Analytics Group, an advisory firm that supports Human Capital Management and Education Tech startups from Seed to IPO. Jenny was previously Chief Talent Officer at SAP and a C-level executive at SuccessFactors, Sun Microsystems and Hewlett-Packard.  She currently serves as an Independent Director on the board of several companies, and is a member of the Forbes San Francisco Business Council.


Kelley Steven-Waiss

Kelley Steven-Waiss serves as Founder & Executive Chairman of Hitch Works Inc.  Kelley founded and commercialized Hitch while she was the Chief Innovation Officer and Human Resources Officer at HERE Technologies. She has more than 25 years of executive management and consulting experience in human resources, change management and corporate communications. Prior to HERE Technologies, Steven-Waiss was executive vice president, chief human resources officer, for Extreme Networks, Inc., and was responsible for the company’s global human capital strategies. She is on the board of FormFactor, Inc., the Chair of the Advisory Board for the Silicon Valley Education Foundation. 

Banafsheh Akhlaghi, moderator

Banafsheh Akhlaghi has over 20 years of experience as founder of a civil rights nonprofit, consultant to the United Nations, Regional Director with Amnesty International, and founder of an international private law practice. She is a member of the Board of Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco and member of Board of Advisors of Entefy.
