Metaverse Code of Ethics from Markkula Center for Applied Ethics

Regulation of new technologies has become a commonplace challenge for companies. The Markkula Center for Applied Ethics has developed a Metaverse Code of Ethics to guide standards and inform developers as the Metaverse becomes more popular and influential. 

As virtual reality spaces grow and more companies sink time, money, and resources into their development, it has become clear that the Metaverse is here to stay. However, just because these spaces are virtual and teem with endless possibilities, that does not mean they are inherently safe. These technologies—as they are currently being adopted—perpetuate the same hostility, harassment, and bullying of marginalized people and communities that we find in other social and cultural spaces.
