About

Lewis Lee is CEO and global head of Aon Intellectual Property Solutions, a business focused on enhancing enterprise value by executing IP-based value creation strategies and minimising the cost of IP risk. ​With intellectual property emerging as a valuable asset class, Mr Lee provides advanced business and data analytics to help financial and insurance industries assess and value IP assets.

Mr Lee is a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco’s Economic Advisory Council. He is recognised as a top 300 IP strategist worldwide, and an experienced IP attorney (also ranked as a top 1,000 patent attorney), entrepreneur, author, inventor and educator. Mr Lee is the co-founder of Lee & Hayes, a leading US patent and business law firm that enjoyed top quality ranking for multiple years on ​IAM​’s annual rankings.

Mr Lee has a JD from the George Washington University School of Law, a BSc in electrical engineering and a BA in business administration from Washington State University​.

Mr Lee has previously advised:

  • A Fortune 100 company on portfolio integration resulting from a large merger and go-forward strategy initiative;

  • A Fortune 100 company on global portfolio development across its many lines of business;

  • Leading companies regarding IP strategy in emerging technology fields;

  • Various small and medium-sized enterprises in advocating IP roles in financing and exit;

  • Various companies in finance and insurance regarding integration of intellectual property

    into their best practices and enhancement of portfolio investments; and

  • Various universities on technology transfer and licensing programmes.

Mr Lee is active in the development of advanced IP tools, analytics and processes. He has co-authored two books, ​Intellectual Property for the Internet ​and ​Managing Intellectual Property Rights​.

A frequent speaker on IP topics, Mr Lee has presented at institutions including Harvard University, the University of Washington, Peking University and Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi. He is a former adjunct professor for Gonzaga University’s School of Business.
